FAQs

  • With over a decade of experience in conventional primary care and additional training in integrative and functional medicine, I support patients with a wide range of health concerns. Common conditions I work with include:

    • Autoimmune disorders (such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and inflammatory bowel diseases)

    • Functional gut issues (including IBS, SIBO, constipation, diarrhea, gas, and bloating)

    • Skin conditions (like psoriasis, eczema, and hives)

    • Mold toxicity and environmental illness

    • Metabolic imbalances (such as weight gain and elevated blood sugar)

    • Hormone imbalances and hormone replacement therapy

    • Chronic fatigue, brain fog, and low resilience

While I approach care holistically and tailor treatment to each individual, I have a special passion for helping people heal from functional gut disorders like IBS and small intestinal overgrowths. Restoring balance to the gut microbiome—often the root of so many chronic symptoms—is one of the most powerful ways I’ve seen people reclaim their energy, mood, and quality of life.

  • No, I do not bill insurance to help maintain high quality care and adequate time with patients. Many individuals have high deductibles and copays with insurance plans; therefore, it would not necessarily provide benefit. Additionally, insurance companies have various restrictions and stipulations, taking away focus on patient quality and care.

I do accept various forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, check, and HSA/FSA accounts. Payment is due at the time of visit. I also have monthly membership options to help aid in cost if looking to see me more regularly. Depending on the test/labs recommended, you may also use insurance; however, coverage will be determined by your policy/insurance company. A superbill may also be provided at end of visit upon request for possible reimbursement for your visit (excludes Medicare). A superbill would not be applicable to a membership plan.

  • Your initial visit is a 60-minute, in-depth session where we take a comprehensive, whole-person approach to your health.

We’ll review your health history, current symptoms, and any prior labs or testing, and begin identifying potential root causes contributing to how you’re feeling. This is a collaborative conversation where we connect the pieces and start building a clearer picture of your health.

You’ll leave with personalized recommendations and clear next steps to get started.

Because most concerns—especially gut and hormone-related—develop over time, this visit is the starting point. Follow-up visits allow us to build on this foundation, make adjustments, and support your progress in a thoughtful and sustainable way.

My goal is not just to give you a plan, but to guide you through the process of getting better.

  • While I provide many services that may overlap with primary care, I do not address urgent/acute issues or provide physical exams, well child visits, or immunizations. Therefore, it is important you have established care with a PCP and have had a physical exam in the last year.

  • This will depend on the labs determined to be most appropriate in examining your health concerns. Many labs can be ordered via Epic through Mercy/Trinity Health, Metro/U of M West and Spectrum/Corewell Health if you are an established patient at one of these locations. A lab slip can also be faxed to numerous other locations to have blood drawn. Specialty labs may be ordered to your home and collected there, or taken to a lab for collection, depending on the test ordered. Quest and labcorp tend to have more comprehensive lab options available compared to the large health systems.

  • Yes! Initial visits and follow-up visits can be performed via telehealth. In-person visits are also available.

  • Follow-up frequency is individualized based on your symptoms, goals, and how your body responds to care.

For most patients, we typically meet every 4-6 weeks to allow time for changes to take effect and to thoughtfully adjust your plan.

At times, especially early on or during more active phases of care, we may meet a bit more frequently to build momentum and support progress.

As things stabilize, visits are spaced out accordingly.

  • Functional medicine is all about finding the “why” behind your health concerns. Instead of only treating symptoms, it looks for root causes—like gut imbalances, hormone shifts, or inflammation—and creates a personalized plan using nutrition, lifestyle changes, and natural supports to help your body heal.

Integrative medicine is a bigger picture approach. It brings together the best of conventional medicine (when you need prescriptions, labs, or referrals) with holistic practices (like stress support, movement, and natural therapies). It sees you as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit—not just a set of symptoms.

How they come together in my practice:
Think of integrative medicine as the “umbrella” that covers everything. Under that umbrella, I use functional medicine tools to dig deeper into root causes, while also weaving in holistic and lifestyle care. This way, we can address what’s going on right now and support your long-term wellness.

In short: Functional medicine asks why. Integrative medicine brings it all together for truly whole-person care.

  • Patients must be physically located in Michigan at the time of their medical visit due to state licensure requirements. If you reside outside of Michigan but are able to travel to Michigan for care, we are happy to see you while you are physically present in the state.

If you live outside of Michigan and are seeking virtual-only care, we recommend finding a licensed provider in your state.
